The Care Team
Based on the patients need, we identify the best possible care team from a range of different professions. They work as a team, each contributing to the person’s recovery and may include:
Nurses and Support Workers
These ward-based teams support the patient in their day-to-day recovery, meeting their physical, psychological, social, mental and spiritual care needs.
Occupational Therapist
Help the patient to do as much as they can for themselves and overcome barriers to their independence. This can be simple things like getting dressed, having a shower, cooking or taking part in activities social circumstances.
Psychologists and Assistants
Deal with the way the mind works. They focus on behaviour and the thoughts, feelings and motivation underlying it. They aim to reduce distress and enhance psychological well-being by delivering a range of one-to-one and group therapeutic interventions.
Psychiatrists
A consultant psychiatrist will be the responsible clinician (“RC”) in overall charge of a patient’s care. Only Psychiatrists can prescribe medication and will monitor how successful it is.
Catering Staff
Ensure meals are freshly made using locally sourced ingredients and aim to meet a diverse range of cultural, religious and individual needs. They will meet with patients to get their input too.
Social Worker
This statutory role ensures that the patient’s social needs and family contact are maintained during their stay. They ensure everything is in place for people to leave the hospital when they are ready to.
Mental Health Administrator
Support patients to meet their legal rights and recognise the mental links to correct legislation whilst signposting referrals to advocacy etc.
