Visiting Information

We have a visitors room within the hospital. This can be accessed by appointment only with at least 24 hours notice. Appointments can be made by phoning the hospital. Visitors under the age of 18 are not permitted to access the visitors room, unless discussed and agreed by Management prior to the visit. Visits can also take place in the community with agreement from MDT prior to the visit.

Can I park on-site?

Yes, we have a car park on site which is limited on spaces. There is a Pay & Display Car Park 200 yards away from the Hospital.

Is it possible to stay overnight?

Our Admin Department have a list of local hotels and B&B's which can be booked at your own cost.

What do I do when I arrive?

A member of the admin department will meet and greet you at the Reception.

What can’t I bring with me?

The Admin Team will be able to advise you on contraband items.

Will I be searched?

No, but any items given to the patients will be searched/screened before they are taken onto the ward. You can bring gifts for the patient, these will also be subject to searching/ screening prior to going on the ward. There is a list of restricted and prohibited items which the ward team can provide you a copy of.

Can I bring food with me?

Home-made foods can only be brought with agreement of the MDT. Food cannot usually be stored or reheated on site. For health and safety reasons food can often only be taken into visiting rooms and not onto the ward.

Can a visit be refused or cancelled?

We try to minimise the number of visits which are refused or cancelled; especially at short notice, as we know that arranging travel, taking time off and organising childcare can be difficult. We will always endeavour to discuss alternative arrangements.

From time to time it may not be possible for a visit to go ahead. For example, if the patient is unwell, if there is an infection or outbreak or illness on the ward (such as flu), or if the visit is deemed ‘counter-thereapeutic’ or may harm the patient’s health. We may refuse to allow a visitor to come to the Hospital if we believe they may be at risk, or if their past behaviour has been disruptive, or because they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they arrive on site.
